Adopt-A-Road

Conducted as a community service project, teaching students civic responsibility. Students, teachers, parents, community organizations, and community leaders clean trash and miscellaneous items along John Rivers and Herdondon Road, located in Fairburn, GA. This initiative is also conducted along with a partnership with Keep South Fulton Beautiful and Rivers Alive, in an effort to promote the importance of a healthy and clean community that is litter free. Future Adopt-A-Road programs are projected to be initiated at all schools served by Operation Outreach.
Recycling Project
"Leading by example!" Students within the program maintain newspaper recycling throughout the school, with bins located in strategically placed locations to maximize use. The program has partnered with SP Recycling Corp. to promote the importance and benefit of productive recycling.
Community Health & Wellness Fair
A community awareness event designed to promote healthy living and preventative health care practices within our community. The Health & Wellness Fair provides Hypertension, Diabetes, and Dental screenings, along with an on-site massage therapist, aeromatherapist, various vendors, loads of free samples, information regarding the importance of proper grease and waste disposal during food preparation, as well as, the use of biodegradable materials that are beneficial to the community.
Etiquette Training & Dinner
Conducted on the weekend prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, serving as a training activity designed to enhance communication and formal dining etiquette skills. Students, parents, and mentors are also afforded the opportunity to put such skills into practice as they endulge in a wonderfully prepared dinner.
(B-Ball) Behavior Basketball Tournament
A great multi-school behavior incentive, as students from local elementary and middle schools are issued the CHALLENGE! As a measure of good faith and in an effort to participate, prospective players must display positive academic progress and adequate behavior (no ISS, OSS, or Bus Suspensions) over a period of time determined by the program staff. Winners of the tournament are presented awards and are given the title of B-Ball Champions!
Community Outreach
Operation Outreach sponsors local families in need during the holiday season, providing food, clothes, and gifts as needed. Students also serve the greater Fairburn, Palmetto, and Union City communities by giving back and volunteering at local Senior Citizen centers and "Soup Kitchens."
Debutante Ball "An Evening of Elegance and Grace"
A grand event showcasing the talents and beauty of our young ladies, as they are formally introduced into society. The Operation Outreach Debutante Ball is an annual event highlighting the training received by these young ladies to include workshop session on topics such as: Etiquette Skills; Social Graces; Financial Responsibility; Career Chioces; Health & Wellness; as well as, formalized dance instruction for the the Salsa and American Waltz. The dances are performed during the ball along with a Father-Daughter dance as well.
Camping Excursion
At the conclusion of the school year, those students who have maintained appropriate classroom performance (attendance, academics, and behavior) have the distinct opportunity to partake in our annual Camping Excursion. As many students may never experience such an activity, the excursion has proved to be a favorite among program participants. Activities include nature hikes, fishing, and camping out underneath the stars in the sky.
Summer Activities
In an effort to reinforce skills and provide an opportunity for an educational experience over the summer, students are able to participate in our annual trip to the Georgia Aquarium. Co-sponsored by the East Point-College Park Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and The Educational Fortitude Foundation, students within the program are able to obtain wonderful information as a part of the Science and Everyday Experiences initiative.
